Toyota Star Safety System combines 5 Safety Technologies into every New Toyota!
Your safety is our top priority! This is why we're excited to share with you the safety package that comes included standard on every new Toyota. Our team of Toyota Specialists are here to answer your questions on the Star Safety System.
The Star Safety System consists of six safety features that come standard to each new Toyota, meaning you won't have to worry about additional charges or upgrades in order to get exceptional safety features. The features that make up the Star Safety System are: Traction Control (TRAC), Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), Brake Assist (BA), , Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Smart Stop Technology (SST) and Vehicle Stability Control (VSC).
To operate, TRAC uses data from the ABS sensors to determine wheel speed. The system detects a loss of traction if the wheel speeds don't match up. If this loss of traction causes slippage, TRAC steps in to reduce engine power until traction is regained. It can detect and apply brakes to individual wheel if further assistance is needed.
Anti-lock Brake System
This system uses a group of sensors to monitor the tires. When the brakes are applied, is one tire is stopping quicker than the others, the system notices this. It pumps the brake on that specific tire until it matches with the rest to avoid skidding.
In addition to ABS, this system helps to operate the brakes if the driver brakes suddenly. It will also apply more pressure if it detects the driver isn't applying enough.
Electronic Brake-force Distribution
This feature is a part of the ABS system, and it works to counteract weight shifting in the event of heavy braking. It makes sure each tire gets the appropriate amount of pressure depending on the weight it's carrying.
Smart Stop Technology
If the brake and the accelerator pedals are pressed at the same time, this system will reduce engine power to allow the brakes to bring the vehicle to a stop.
Vehicle Stability Control
This system gets its data from the ABS and the steering wheel. It works to make sure the vehicle follows the driver's steering. If the vehicle starts to go in the direction opposite of the steering, VSC will reduce the engine speed and apply appropriate brakes to help fix it.
